August 1952:August 1952: Cesar Fragola suggested Powell Council obtain its own clubhouse. Grand Knight Charlie Williams also informed the council we'll start a newsletter in the near future. Council joined up with Kiwanis to form Uniondale Baseball League
August 1954: The Officers decided to reactivate Building Fund Committee to raise money to buy land to build on.
August 1955:The Council baseball team visited Ebbets Field
August 1956:The brand-new Roosevelt Field shopping center opens. 18 brothers attended council fishing trip. Greg Cappuccino appointed Lecturer. Walter Fitzpatrick succeeds PGK Charlie Williams as our District Deputy. At least two teams to represent Powell Council in Bowling league.
August 1957: Powellite Editor Harry Gort received commendation from State Deputy Emmitt Burke for his work with Powellite. 68 attended annual picnic at Gilgo Beach. Bishop Kellenberg to speak at Candlelight Hour at Chaminade Bowl in September.The Powellite had a "blurb" for the Sinners Club: No officers, no meetings, no dues, just a daily prayer 'O God be merciful to me, a sinner." The Powellite also featured a story by J. Edgar Hoover, "Big business filth is ruining our youth." Mike Ricigliano joined the Brooklyn Dodgers farm team in Bluefield, West Virginia.
August 1958: Financial Secretary Thomas Campbell to prepare and print list of membership for Prefect List. Bishop's Dinner coming in October. Funds to support St. Pius X Seminary. Greg Cappuccino to Chair Columbian Sweepstakes. Council to field 3 teams in bowling league.
August 1959: New York State drive in progress to sell Our Lady of Loretto, Queen of Aviation medals. Knights to travel to Rome, $550 for 15 days, private audience with pope John XXIII.
August 1960: 158 certificates sold for 600 Club. Council had its annual picnic at Salisbury. Council beat Corpus Christi 36-5 in softball. Council to join other churches and organizations in Uniondale Community Council. Grand Knight John Belmonte investigated Crosley Building. Sale price $55,000. GK suggested we purchase property.
August 1962: Bishop Kellenberg suggested forming a Nassau-Suffolk Chapter. Grand Knight Tom Campbell urged members to write to Senators Keating and Javits regarding recent Supreme Court decision on prayer in public schools.
August 1963: Officers recommend initiation fee be increased from $12 to $20. Dan O'Connor and Joe Columbo to greet members on meeting nights."Hello" cards to be distributed. Total cost of Honor Guard regalia $68. New Fourth Degree Assembly formed for mid-Nassau County, Pope John XXIII. Fred Savino succeeded John Bassaline as Lecturer.
August 1964:Fred Savino reminded all to pick up "Hello" cards at meetings. Display rack will be on hand with K of C gifts. Bob Woodford chaired Columbian Sweepstakes, Dan O'Connor and Dan Rubino in charge of Game Room. Bob Steiner reported mortgage on lot next to council was fully paid. Council held their Annual Picnic at Salisbury Park.
August 1965: PGK Bert Blumberg named District Deputy. charter Member Bob Dunseath was a Civil Defense Officer. PGK FDD Bill Duschenchuk asked members to help residents of Holly Patterson Homne so they can hear Mass on Sunday.
August 1967: George Fedden and Ed Sparkowski joined Powell Council. PGK FDD Bill Duschenchuk elected Faifhtul Navigator for Pope John XXIII Assembly.
August 1968: Annual Picnic at Point Lookout cost $3 per person. PGK Bill Higney District Deputy for 18th District. Anthony Abbrizio District Deputy for our 13th District. PGK Bob Steiner Warden to the Board of District Deputies. Alan Steinmetz Powellite Editor. Grand Knight Bill Thomson thanked cleanup committee for fine job on "North 40" (adjacent to cluhouse at 517 Uniondale Avenue) Motion carried to send telegram to Federal and State representatives to do all they can to end starvation in Biafra.
August 1969: Air conditioner installed by Dick Pilitz and friends just in time for the Air Conditioned Dance.
August 1973: The council hosted Bingo for the first time. August 25th was the last day the "old" bar was open. The "new" bar was open shortly afterwards. Among the bartenders were Steve Tracy, John Boulanger, Bob Carragher, and Jack O'Grady.
August 1974: A Monday Night Club was formed for the upcoming football season. The Annual Picnic had 600 guests. They were entertained by the Long Island Banjo Society. There was also a tug of war between Powell Council and Archbishop Molloy Council (Powell won)
